Training

Dr. Andrea Wierzchowski received her undergraduate degree in criminal justice with a minor in Spanish from the University of Texas in Tyler in 2010.  She received a master’s degree in clinical psychology from the University of Dallas in 2015 and a doctoral degree accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) in school psychology from Texas Woman’s University in 2020. She completed her APA-accredited internship at The Help Group in Los Angeles, California, and formal neuropsychology postdoctoral training (two years) at Baylor University Medical Center, Baylor Scott & White Medical Consultants in Dallas, Texas. She has worked in a multitude of settings serving the Dallas/Fort Worth and surrounding areas as well as Los Angeles, California, for over a decade. 

Her training experiences range the lifespan from pediatrics to adults (ages 4-90) in a variety of treatment settings including community mental health agencies, correctional facilities, hospitals (both outpatient and inpatient), and private practice. Dr. Wierzchowski has conducted individual, family, couples, and group psychotherapy as well as neuropsychological assessment with children, adolescents, and adults.  She is certified in prolonged exposure therapy and has been the treating clinician on several federally funded studies. She has conducted psychotherapy as well as neuropsychological assessments for a wide range of medical ailments to include, adults suffering from advanced cardiac and pulmonary diseases that often warrant transplants. Her former forensic training was within a correctional setting and involved psychotherapy and assessment (more than 300 cases) services for juveniles. She currently provides forensic psychological evaluations for criminal responsibility, violence risk assessment, mental injury and disability, and family court evaluations. At times, she also serves as an expert witness. 

As an adjunct professor in clinical and school psychology programs at the University of Dallas and Texas Woman’s University, she has taught undergraduate courses in general psychology and developmental psychology. She has taught graduate courses in individual therapeutic techniques, group therapeutic techniques, supervision of school-based practicum, and supervision of counseling-based practicum.
